Fractal Imagination: Where Science Meets Spirituality

~

Imagination will always be more essential to intelligence than knowledge.

.

LOGIC only sets limits. It takes us to an ANSWER–an endpoint.

.

IMAGINATION is limitless. It gives us our IDEASThere are only infinite points in the realm of possibility!

.

Think about it: The more scenarios an individual is capable of fathoming, the grander their perspective. And the grander their perspective, the closer they are to encompassing the INFINITE.

.

IDEAS are infinite. There are no conclusions to the infinite.

.

That’s infinity by definition.

.

Conclusions do nothing more then set a glass ceiling to personal growth.

.

. Enlightenment lives in the maybe– not the definitely.

.

That’s why I get frustrated when I see a scientist shoot down metaphysical concepts, like astrology. Or when I see a ‘believer’ accept a book as divine.

.

SCIENCE and SPIRITUALITY are methods created to help us grasp concepts well beyond us– concepts which will always remain beyond us.

.

These divergent modes of thought are just separate vessels used to explore a horizon that will always be out of reach.

.

lThat’s why the key to reconciling science and spirituality must lie in the realm of intellect we call IMAGINATION.

.

Only IMAGINATION transcends the limits of fact and evidence, and guides us into the limitless realm of IDEAS. And, as Einstein pointed out, at their core– science and spirituality are just different expressions of the same idea–

.

an idea whose beauty unfolds as FRACTALS.

.

That’s why I love Mandelbrot sets so much!  How elegantly they describe the paradox of our limitation.

.

As an infinitely complex pattern of black and white. Between the black and white:  An endless abyss of grey. Infinite shades of grey made up of finite fragments of black and white.

.

IMAGINATION is that grey area.

.

Only by thinking in shades of grey is one able to see the underlying structure of the whole–the union of opposites — pixels of black and white.

.

The paradox that nothing is black and white, but everything is.

.

We are ruled by the fine line.

.

When you accept the mathematical properties of fractals, you accept the endless probabilities of reality.

.
