A Star No One Saw: The Story of True Love

.

In the beginning,
in a place far, far away
outside of space and time
a star declared,

.

“God, are you listening?
I want to want something — anything!”
in his darkest moment of despair.

.

God listened to the star, and simply asked,

“Why?”

.

The star said,

“I forgot what it’s like to want,
and that’s how I know I died.
I know I must be dead
because I no longer give off light.”

.

God replied,

“If you’ve already died
and you’re here right now,
then what’s stopping you
from being alive?”

.

The star thought it over, and said,

“Nothing matters.
If nothing matters, why try?
I don’t want to have to try to be alive-
I just want TO BE. I want to exist.
I want to be born.
I want to be me.”

.

God said to the star,

“Then BECOME you.”

.

The star replied,

“How am I to become me
when I can’t see myself?
I must able to see what I want, to want it,
so that I may desire
what I’m to become!”

.

God said,

“So it shall be. I’ll split you in two, so you can see you,
but under one rule:
I will separate both parts of you for an eternity.
Both halves cast
into time and space.
An illusory place called human life.”

.

He continued,

“One half is to live many lives to learn who he is.
The other, is to live but one life,
traveling in time
to find his match.
When the two meet again, you’ll be born
as a star anew.
You will have what you asked for –
you will see yourself as you.”

.

The star thought it over,
and decided it sounded risky.

.
He asked God,

“How will I know I want what I see, when I see myself for me,
when the two parts of me unite?
What if I am afraid of what I see?
What if I don’t want to be me?
Is that not the meaning of doom?”

.

God replied,

“You have nothing to fear, there is no choice once you see.
After all, you are you already.
Becoming is merely
finding desire to be.
When you know the VALUE of what you seek,
and what you MEAN,
then the whole truth you’ll see,
and what is promised
is yours to keep.”

.

So the star agreed.

 He asked,

“If I’m to be split in two, which part do I get to be?
The half of me that lives many lives,
or travels in time?”

.

God replied,

“That depends. Would you rather explore your mind
to find out what everything means
and become WISEST of all,
or explore your world
to find the value of the best
and always be RIGHT?”

.

The star thought exploring the world sounded more fun,
and replied,

“I’ll be the one who travels through time.”

.

God said,

“Very well, then it is done.
Your other half is to be a girl, and you, her opposite- a man.
You must search the world for her,
with time on your side,
until her last life
where your paths collide.

The place in the center
is where WISEST meets RIGHT.
This is the place
your two halves unite.”

.

He continued,

.

“She will teach you
what the BEST feels like
because you mean the most
and all the rest, she knows.

You will teach her, that she is the best,
because you know she’s EVERYTHING,
and you’re the one right.

This divine communion I’ll call true love
and for this test, I grant you your lives.
In the end, TWO halves unite:
As a star, you’ll be ONE
and once again,
give light.”

.

POOF!

.

In that instant, a star no one saw
fell from the sky
to a place where there was no light,
only night, and a sun.
Scattering itself into a trillion pieces,
the world as we know it had begun.
